What is BFOU Cable？

BFOU cable is a NEK606 standard fire-resistant cable. It is widely used in the offshore oil and gas industry for emergency and critical applications ranging from fire alarms to lighting systems. NEK606 cable is the ideal choice for applications requiring halogen-free, flame-retardant, or fire-resistant properties—particularly where life-threatening hazardous gases may be present, or where acidic gases during a fire could damage sensitive equipment.



BFOU cable incorporates mica glass tape (MGT), which acts as a fire barrier. Standard BFOU cable is rated for 0.6/1kV power applications, while the BFOU (c) designation applies to S102 and S104 low-voltage power applications rated at 150/250V. The BFOU(i) designation applies to S101 and S103 instrument cables rated at 150/250V. Our these offshore cables have been approved and certified by ABS (American Bureau of Shipping).
