NYY-O / NYY-J Cable

What is NYY Cable?

The NYY cable a kind of PVC insulated PVC sheathed cable, includes NYY-J and NYY-O cables along with a voltage rating of 600/1000V. which could be produced as single-core cables up to 1.5-- 10 sq mm and as multi-strands up to 10-- 300 sq mm. NYY cable is widely used European power and control cables designed for fixed wiring installation.

NYY Cable Construction

Conductor: RE: Class 1 solid copper conductor/ RM: Class 2 stranded copper conductor
Insulation: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride).
Filler: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride).
Sheath: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride).
Core Identification:.
3 core: Green/Yellow Blue Brown.
4 core: Green/Yellow Brown Black Grey.
5 core: Green/Yellow Brown Black Grey Blue.
7 core and above: Black with White numbers.
Sheath Colour: Black.

The different between NYY-J and NYY-O cables:

The main difference between NYY-J and NYY-O cable is that NYY-O has no green/yellow earth wire. NYY cables can be safely deployed as power cables in most applications where mechanical stresses are not anticipated-- indoors, outdoors, direct burial underground, in concrete, or submerged in water. When NYY cables are required to abide by the UK wiring regulations BS7671 for burial in the ground, they require installation in a conduit or duct to ensure protection against mechanical damage. They are not suitable for installation in concrete which is shaken, vibrated or compressed. These black NYY cables have a UV-stabilised outersheath making them suitable for direct exposure to sunlight. They have an operating temperature range of -15 oC to +70 oC when fixed and -5 oC to +50 oC when flexed.
