In the rapidly expanding solar energy sector, the integrity of your connection determines the efficiency of your output. At Huadong Cable Group, we understand that a solar farm is only as durable as its weakest link. For over 20 years, we have been engineering cables that withstand the harshest environmental conditions, and our PV1-F Solar Cable represents the gold standard in photovoltaic power transmission. Unlike standard electrical wires, PV cables must endure decades of direct UV exposure, extreme temperature fluctuations, and moisture.
What is PV1-F Solar Cable?
The PV1-F cable is a specialized single-core conductor designed specifically for the DC (Direct Current) side of photovoltaic systems. It connects solar panels to combiners and inverters.
While many generic cables exist in the market, Huadong’s PV1-F is engineered with a dual-layer insulation system utilizing Electron Beam Cross-linked materials. This ensures that the cable does not melt or flow even at temperatures as high as 120°C, a common occurrence in desert solar installations.

PV1-F Cable Applications
Our PV1-F Solar Cables are designed for versatility in various installation scenarios:
Solar Farms (Utility Scale): Suitable for long-distance DC transmission strings.
Rooftop Solar (Residential/Commercial): UV-resistant black sheath blends with panels and withstands direct sunlight.
Floating Solar (FPV): High moisture resistance makes them suitable for humid environments (consult us for specific IP ratings).
Harsh Climates: From the freezing winters of Northern Europe to the scorching deserts of the Middle East, our cables maintain flexibility and conductivity.
PV1-F vs. H1Z2Z2-K: Which Should You Choose?
As a transparent manufacturer, we believe in educating our clients. You may see both PV1-F and EN 50618 (H1Z2Z2-K) cables on the market.
PV1-F is based on the TUV 2 PfG 1169 standard. It is the classic, time-tested specification used in gigawatts of installations worldwide. It is cost-effective and extremely reliable for standard DC applications.
H1Z2Z2-K is the newer European standard (EN 50618). It has slightly higher mechanical durability requirements and water resistance ratings.
Huadong’s Recommendation: For most standard utility-scale and residential projects, PV1-F remains a robust and economical choice approved by TUV. However, if your project explicitly requires EN 50618 compliance for EU tenders, Huadong Cable Group manufactures both. Please consult our sales engineers for specific project requirements.
Manufacturing Process & Quality Control
Buying from Huadong Cable Group means buying directly from the factory floor. We eliminate the middleman to ensure quality traceability.
Wire Drawing & Tinning: We control the thickness of the tin layer to micron-level precision.
Extrusion: Our triple-extrusion lines ensure perfect concentricity. If the insulation is too thin on one side, it becomes a weak point. Our laser calipers monitor diameter in real-time.
Irradiation: The cables pass through our electron beam accelerators to cross-link the polymer chains, locking in thermal resistance.
Lab Testing: Every batch undergoes:
Spark Test: To detect pinhole leaks in insulation.
Aging Test: Baked in ovens to simulate years of use.
Tensile Strength Test: Ensuring the cable can withstand pulling during installation.
Common Installation Mistakes to Avoid
Leveraging our experience in the field, here are tips to extend the life of your PV1-F cables:
Bend Radius: Do not bend the cable tighter than 4 times its outer diameter. Over-bending can micro-fracture the copper strands and stress the insulation.
Cable Management: Use proper UV-resistant cable ties. Loose cables can rub against concrete or metal racking (abrasion) due to wind vibration, eventually exposing the conductor.
Connector Matching: Ensure you use MC4 connectors compatible with the specific cross-section (e.g., 4mm² or 6mm²). A loose crimp is the #1 cause of thermal events (fires) in solar systems.
Why Partner with Huadong Cable Group?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I bury PV1-F cable directly in the ground? A: While PV1-F has excellent durability, it is generally not designed for direct burial without protection. For underground runs, we recommend using conduit or selecting our specialized armored solar cables to prevent damage from rocks or rodents.
Q: What is the difference between single-core and twin-core solar cable? A: Single-core (like PV1-F) is preferred for connecting panels because it reduces the risk of short circuits between positive and negative poles. Twin-core is sometimes used for the main run to the inverter, but single-core offers better heat dissipation.
Q: Do you provide samples for testing? A: Yes. Huadong Cable Group welcomes quality verification. We can ship a sample of our PV1-F cable (e.g., 4mm² or 6mm²) for you to inspect the tinning quality and insulation thickness before placing a bulk order.
Q: What is the warranty on your solar cables? A: We provide a standard manufacturing warranty that aligns with industry norms, typically guaranteeing the material quality for the expected service life of the solar system (25 years) under normal usage conditions.
