What is HMWPE Cable

HMWPE cable is a cable generally used for cathodic protection; it consists of stranded copper conductor separated from it’s insulation a layer of High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. This tough insulation offers superior protection against abrasion, crush, moisture, and chemicals and conforms to HMWPE cable for direct burial in pipeline, storage tanks, marine, and other wet-buried metallic structures.

HMWPE Cable Applications 

HMWPE cable is used in a variety of applications including municipal water towers, oil containment units, steel pipelines, oil drilling rigs, cathodic protection wells containing anodes, bridges, parking garages, municipal fire hydrants, and concrete structures. It is also used in gas lines that have not been replaced with plastic. Beyond that, with underground steel piping, HMWPE wire is a great wire type. HMWPE cable is used for interconnecting the cathode which is the structure to be protected and the anode which is the sacrificial in an ICCP system.
