What is Pilot Cable?

Pilot cable is used for control, protection, signalling, telecommunications and data transmission purposes associated with power distribution and transmission systems. It transmits low-voltage signals between different points in the network, such as substations, to monitor system integrity and detect faults. These cables are designed with robust insulation and shielding to protect them from the strong electromagnetic fields of nearby high-voltage power cables.
